Meet Melissa. A mum, wife, Nutritionist and Homeopath
Hi, I'm Melissa.
I've worked in natural health since I was a teenager.
I did my degree, a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine, and consulted as a nutritionist. I also worked in a pharmacy, which I loved, advising on which supplements could safely sit alongside medications, and helping the pharmacists with the same questions. A lot of that was helping people find the cleaner option at a dose that would actually do something, because working that out from a shelf of labels is genuinely hard.
Then I had my son.
I was already someone who lived naturally and had a real handle on my own health. I laboured naturally. But that counted for nothing against the hospital interventions, and it was those that turned everything.
What followed was the hardest postpartum I can imagine. Trying to heal while in constant pain, with a baby who never settled, probably because of how hard it all was on me.
It made me realise I needed to trust myself completely and take radical responsibility for my health and my family's. Homeopathy was the only thing that filled every one of those gaps.
One remedy, from a homeopath willing to help me, was the turning point.
When I came back to work, homeopathy was the focus.
I'd worked alongside a homeopath for years earlier in my career, so it wasn't unfamiliar ground. This time I went at it properly.
I did a certificate in homeopathy focused on acute first aid, among other areas. Most of what I know came after that though, from years of self study with textbooks and materia medica, going straight to the source rather than to somebody's summary of it. I found homeopaths I admired and learned everything I could from them, then worked out my own balance of what genuinely helped the families in front of me.
That's still how I work.
Melissa’s purpose is to build your confidence in using homeopathic healing, so you can learn to intuitively relieve symptoms and improve every family member’s health. Making homeopathy simple to understand and navigate, Healing Home and Body provides the tools you need to naturally support yourself and your children. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine, along with years of study and practice in Homeopathy.Â
Why the First Aid Kit exist
I was also the mother awake at night researching what might help my son. So many of the natural options I knew couldn't be used on a baby that young, or wouldn't touch the sides. I knew homeopathy would, and there was nothing available anywhere near me.
I hated choosing between something that didn't align with our values and nothing at all. No mother should be making that choice at 2am, and that's why we went so far into first aid.
Made the way I'd want it for my own kids
Every remedy is properly potentised, which means actual pharmacy stock goes into every bottle, with Australian organic brandy and purified water. That stock comes from homeopathic pharmacists in New Zealand and Australia, nothing diluted further along the way. It was a must for me from the start and it's still rare in this industry.
Organic. Sugar free. No synthetic preservatives or sulphates. Highest grade purified water. Bottles with no plastic labels, tested lead free.
Bottled by hand on the Gold Coast by a team of mothers who work school hours.
My husband and I ground every decision in two questions. Is this the best possible option, and would we be happy giving this to our kids.
Giving back
Every purchase supports our family and keeps this business steady, and that's what lets us give back.
Each month we help at least one family, usually more, with the remedies they need. Often that's a collection or a kit matched to what their family is actually dealing with. These are families with no way to prioritise remedies at all, who are simply going without. Single parents, mothers who are unwell themselves, families in long term hardship. Sometimes I'll consult with them as well, or send other things.
We can do that because Healing Home and Body is doing well. So thank you.
Looking after the rest of it
We keep plastic out wherever we can. No plastic in our packaging or in what fills the postage boxes, and we avoid plastic tape. Our postage labels are a lower tox option. We recycle what we can and we work at reducing waste generally.
And when we get a faulty dropper, it goes to a local kindy for the kids to make potions with.
